Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between

I received this ARC at ALA in San Francisco, Ca in exchange for an honest review. This book will be released September 1, 2016. For more reviews on this book, visit

On the night before they leave for college, Clare and Aidan only have one thing left to do: figure out whether they should stay together or break up. Over the course of twelve hours, they'll retrace the steps of their relationship, trying to find something in their past that might help them decide what their future should be. The night will lead them to friends and family, familiar landmarks and unexpected places, hard truths and surprising revelations. But as the clock winds down and morning approaches, so does their inevitable goodbye. The question is, will it be goodbye for now or goodbye forever?

Romance, tears, adventure and so much more. This book was a very quick read and it was amazing!! I've never read any books by this author and I'm now totally going to go buy her other books. This story follows a couple that is going to go to colleges on opposite side of the country. It's heartbreaking to follow them through their journey as they decide whether to stay together or break up. It is a story that isn't sugar coated in any way and it gives you feels! This book has brawls, late night swims, alcohol, coffee, emotions, and bowling balls. I didn't want their night to ever end. I loved the characters because they were people. They didn't have crazy back stories and they were just normal teenagers who are going off to college with their hopes and dreams. You go through this story making stops that are significant to Clare and it's because she's retracing her relationship with Aidan. Twelve hours is not enough time and it was heartbreaking because all these stops were so important. The story flows very well and the entire time you never really know what is going to happen with them. This book was an emotional rollercoaster for the couple and the reader. I think that by far my favorite part was the entire thing. There wasn't any part I didn't like except for the fact that I needed and wanted more! I loved the characters and I'm sure you will too! Happy reading.

On scholarship at a prestigious East Coast college, ordinary Mabel Dagmar is surprised to befriend her roommate, the beautiful, wild, blue-blooded Genevra Winslow. Ev invites Mabel to spend the summer at Bittersweet, her cottage on the Vermont estate where her family has been holding court for more than a century; it’s the kind of place where children twirl sparklers across the lawn during cocktail hour. Mabel falls in love with midnight skinny-dipping, the wet dog smell that lingers near the yachts, and the moneyed laughter that carries across the still lake while fireworks burst overhead. Before she knows it, she has everything she’s ever wanted: friendship, a boyfriend, access to wealth, and, most of all, for the first time in her life, the sense that she belongs.

But as Mabel becomes an insider, a terrible discovery leads to shocking violence and reveals what the Winslows may have done to keep their power intact - and what they might do to anyone who threatens them. Mabel must choose: either expose the ugliness surrounding her and face expulsion from paradise, or keep the family’s dark secrets and make Ev’s world her own

The book cover itself looks very appealing. This is one of the mail reasons I decided on requesting it for review. Unfortunately, the characters are dull and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to hate the main character or like her. She was very weird and made me uncomfortable.  The book had way too many descriptive words. I felt that it was overly descriptive. For example, one thing would be described for a good paragraph that didn't need that much information. The author could have said truck and it would have been fine. Or even the model, make, and color. It didn't need to be excessively described. I was very bored and I just couldn't finish reading the book. The author writes well but it could have been used for a different type of book. This one is very dull and she would probably be able to write young adult sci-fi books well because of her great descriptions.

This Is Where It Ends

I received this ARC at ALA in San Francisco, Ca from Sourcebooks Fire in exchange for an honest review. This book will be released January 5, 2016. For more reviews on this book, visit

10:00 a.m.
The principal of Opportunity, Alabama's high school finishes her speech, welcoming the entire student body to a new semester and encouraging them to excel and achieve.

10:02 a.m.
The students get up to leave the auditorium for their next class.

The auditorium doors won't open.

Someone starts shooting.

Told over the span of 54 harrowing minutes from four different perspectives, terror reigns as one student's calculated revenge turns into the ultimate game of survival

This book is 54 minutes of being on the brink of tears and waiting for your heart attack to kick in. This book is unlike anything I've ever read before. I do not have enough words to describe the beauty and terror this book brings. I can't describe the way you'll love the characters while you pray that nothing will happen to them. I can't describe the feelings when you end up with pools of tears in your eyes when one of them is killed. But, I can tell you that this book is so much more than a school shooting. It's about being brave, strong, going after your dreams, and being vulnerable all at the same time.

You'll love the characters and you'll love who they become while reading this book. There are multiple POV's so be prepared! The author makes it very easy to follow along. You'll be upset with the flashbacks and the deaths but you'll keep turning the pages in hopes that someone else made it out alive. You will hope with all your heart that the person who causes all this will stop because deep down you feel terrible for them. But, most of all you'll hope that this never happens to your town.

This book was amazing. This book gave the reader a fraction of terror that the students felt. The author creates this story in a way where there are no unanswered questions but you're left with just one, "What happens next?". She makes you want to throw yourself into the story to try and help the characters. They all have their own battles going on aside from this shooting and you'll just want to save them all. It's beautiful and tragic all at once. I loved this book and I highly recommend that everyone reads it! There is diversity among races, sexual orientations, and so much more.

The Heartbreakers

I received this ARC at ALA 2015 in San Francisco, California from Sourcebooks Fire in exchange for an honest review. The release date for this book is August 4,2015. For more reviews/information on this book, please visit

Stella will do anything for her sick sister, Cara—even stand in line for an autographed Heartbreakers CD...for four hours. She's totally winning best birthday gift this year. At least she met a cute boy with soft brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes while getting her caffeine fix. Too bad she'll never see him again.
Except, Stella's life has suddenly turned into a cheesy love song. Because Starbucks Boy is Oliver Perry – lead singer for the Heartbreakers. And even after she calls his music crap, Oliver still gives Stella his phone number. And whispers quotes from her favorite Disney movie in her ear. OMG, what is her life?
But how can Stella even think about being with Oliver — dating and laughing and pulling pranks with the band — when her sister could be dying of cancer?

The cover is what first made me want to pick the book up and read it. I was at ALA 2015 in San Francisco and it was just sitting there. I did not pick the book out because of the couple but because of the cute doodles on the front. Books with doodles are always the best! Well readers, let's get to it! The book was magnificent. The book is about a set of triplets-Drew,Cara, and Stella- who have a lot going on in their lives. Cara is sick and is obsessed with the Heartbreakers. The Heartbreakers are basically like One Direction in this book. Stella and Drew HATE their music. Who knows where Cara got her music tastes.

So Stella and Drew decide to road trip to go get Cara signed merchandise by the band for her birthday gift. Stella meets a very cute boy at Starbucks and he even pays for her coffee! Swooning!!! So later, Drew and Stella are in line waiting to get their sister's stuff but the line gets cut off! Drew and Stella are basically fuming and when they go back to their hotel, their A.C is busted. Figures right? But the craziest thing happens, Stella bumps into the band in the elevator at the hotel. Guess who is among these handsome boys? The boy from Starbucks, wham-bam-thank-you-mam! This boy, is Oliver Perry a.k.a the lead singer of the Heartbreakers.

I loved the fact that this book revolved around the whole band and not just the main singer. Oliver Perry and Stella are a great match but they have their issues. What I'm trying to say is you will hate and love Oliver at times! This book is beyond amazing and I highly recommend it! It's so cheesy and adorable with twists here and there. I was beyond happy to learn that there is more than one book to this story. The story does not revolve around Cara having cancer but she definitely plays a large part. This is a great Young Adult book and it is a great romance. I rate this 5 stars out of 5 stars! I loved it. Happy reading!

First rule of dealing with hot vampire bodyguards? Don't fall in love.

After losing both her parents before age seventeen, aspiring designer Caitlin Holte feels like her whole world has been turned upside down, and that was before the terrifying encounter with a supernatural force. Then, she learns that her hot bad-boy neighbor, Adrian—who might have just saved her life—is actually a half-demon vampire.

Suddenly Caitlin is stuck with a vampire bodyguard who feels that the best way to protect her is to become her pretend boyfriend. Trouble is, Caitlin is starting to fall in love for real, while Adrian can never love a human. Caitlin trusts Adrian to keep her safe from his demon father, but will he be able to protect her heart?

The first thing that pulled me in was the book cover. To be honest, the book was way better than the book cover! You should definitely pick up a copy at your local bookstore! It was amazing! I could not stop reading this book. I finished it in one sitting. So, let's just jump in! Caitlin's parents have both passed away. Unfortunately, instead of Caitlin moving with her grandmother, she has to move in with her uncle, aunt, and 14 year old cousin who didn't even bother visting her mother on her death bed. The first chapter in this book is so weird because you aren't really sure what is happening. There is a tornado or storm that randomly appears. Caitlin is saved by a boy who she can't remember. But that boy is the one and only, Adrian de la Mara. Adrian de la Mara who is the hunkiest boy in town who never gives any girl the time of day. But, then here is Caitlin and he is all about her.

Turns out that Adrian de la Mara is like Edward from Twilight. Jk, he does not sparkle in the sun! However, he is a vampire! A vampire whose father is a demon. It is all very complicated to explain but the author does it all beautifully. Adrian's family has lots of money and that means that he has some kick ass clothes! Adrian's house is basically where they shot Lord of the Rings people! It is gigantic. Anyways, Caitlin attracts the attention of Adrian's father-a demon- with all her negative emotions. Her mother died days before and she's all emotions! Totally normal! Anyways, Adrian saves her and is forced by the vampire council to be her bodyguard. Adrian and Caitlin must pretend to be dating in order to stay safe. The downside? Caitlin falls for Adrian for real. Which why wouldn't you? While you read this book you get so happy and so upset! The consequences for Caitlin falling for Adrian could be horrible for him if the relationship becomes a thing. Forbidden love type of situation but I need them to be together!! Which if they don't I will just die! Their relationship is amazing and he is so mysterious that it is so cute. Vampires aren't allowed to get close to humans. But, here is Adrian guarding Caitlin and being able to have some type of friendship. This book had a lot of twists and it left you on a cliff hanger. Where is the next one because I'm ready to bribe someone! Happy reading!

Signs Point to Yes

I received this ARC at ALA 2015 in San Francisco, California from Macmillan Children's Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. The release date for this book is October 20,2015. For more reviews/information on this book, please visit

Jane, a superstitious fangirl, takes an anonymous babysitting job to avoid an unpaid internship with her college-obsessed mom. The only problem? She’s babysitting the siblings of her childhood friend and new crush, Teo.

Teo doesn’t dislike Jane, but his best friend Ravi hates her, and is determined to keep them apart. So Teo’s pretty sure his plans for a peaceful summer are shot. His only hope is that his intermittent search for his birth father will finally pan out and he’ll find a new, less awkward home. Meanwhile, at Jane’s house, her sister Margo wants to come out as bisexual, but she’s terrified of how her parents will react.

In a summer filled with secrets and questions, even Jane’s Magic 8 ball can’t give them clear answers, but Signs Point to Yes.

The cover of this book is really pretty and I would expect nothing less. While reading the book, the drawings on the cover start making more and more sense. So the cover and the book are a good combination.

Signs Point to Yes is an adorable young adult romance that will leave you wanting more. The story centers around Jane and Teo. Jane's mom is rushing her to look into colleges. While Teo is looking into finding his biological father. Jane decides to apply for a babysitting job in hopes of getting out of an internship her mom was able to get her into. Well, she applies and it turns out the job is at her neighbors. Which also happens to be Teo's house. The best part of it all? Jane has a major crush on Teo.

Teo is a smart soccer player that happen to be a bit dorky. He is relatable to the reader with his three younger siblings and his step-father/father issues. Jane is an intelligent not so popular girl with a great personality who asks her Magic 8 Ball for advice. After reading this book I felt like I should carry around a Magic 8 Ball and ask it questions just like Jane. Plus it makes her very unique! The couple is adorable and their relationship develops slowly. Will there be parties, mini golf, pool trips, plane rides, road trips, and being grounded? Signs point to yes.

I'm completely in love with Sandy Hall and her writing. She has written two fantastic young adult romances and I can not wait to see what else she'll come out with. If you like this book, I highly recommend you also read A Little Something Different. Happy reading!

Break in Two

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
This book was released November 5, 2013. Visit for other reviews on this book.

Thirty-one year old Claire Hatley is running from Seattle having just discovered that her live-in boyfriend has traded her in for a twenty-two year old hostess. Devastated and alone Claire must make a fresh start. She answers an ad for a chef at a guest ranch just outside Colorado Springs and finds herself face to face with Cole Mitchell, quite possibly the sexiest man to ever ride a horse. Common sense tells them to stay away from each other, but their attraction is not to be denied. He gives her a glimpse of what love should be, but just as she starts to trust him, the past comes back to tear them apart.

Join Claire and Cole as they embark on the stormy love affair of a lifetime.

This book was a quick and flirty read. It was a great stand alone book and that makes it great because if I want to read the other books in the Full Hearts series it won't be a problem. The characters kind of merge into the other books but the book is stand alone. I loved the characters and I was so giddy reading about Claire and Cole's chemistry. Their love story is very steamy and overall a great read.

Cole's family owns a ranch and Claire ends up responding to an ad about a chef position. She ends up getting it and who is her boss? Well it's the sexy cowboy that runs the farm. He's hot and super hunky. She is totally into him and she knows it is wrong of her to get involved with her boss. Just like her boss knows it is not right to get involved with an employee.

This book is very different from other books I've read. It doesn't have an excessive amount of sex scenes which is awesome. I'm not a fan of authors overdoing it. MJ Summers did the perfect combination of story and romantic scenes. When the horrible past come back to bite them in the butt, the couple must go through hell and back for each other to possibly have a chance together. These characters are written perfectly in the way that they are imperfect. Happy reading!

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
The release date for this book is July 14, 2015. Visit for other reviews on this book.

A teenage girl awakens to find herself trapped in a coffin. She has no idea who she is, where she is, or how she got there. Fighting her way free brings little relief — she discovers only a room lined with caskets and a handful of equally mystified survivors. Beyond their room lies a corridor filled with bones and dust, but no people ... and no answers.

She knows only one thing about herself — her name, M. Savage, which was engraved on the foot of her coffin — yet she finds herself in charge. She is not the biggest among them, or the boldest, but for some reason the others trust her. Now, if they’re to have any chance, she must get them to trust each other.

Whatever the truth is, she is determined to find it and confront it. If she has to lead, she will make sure they survive. Maybe there’s a way out, a rational explanation, and a fighting chance against the dangers to come. Or maybe a reality they cannot comprehend lies just beyond the next turn

This book was a very difficult review to write because it is so hard not to throw spoilers out there. Anyways, here we go. The book cover is very simple in the best way. This book has been compared to many different books but I feel like it reminded me of The Maze Runner and The 100. This book is completely different than anything I've ever read before. It is a sci-fi adventure and it constantly creeped me out. There was so many plot twists and turns in this story. It was both super creepy and I just kept needing more. I read this book in one sitting and I was beyond amazed. This story kept me engaged the entire time and I was just so entertained.

The beginning of this book is a very slow because they are waking up and trying to figure things out. So not much happens there but push through because it just gets better. Em, also known as M.Savage, is the first one up and out of her coffin. She helps the others escape their coffins and then she becomes leader because of what she did. Most of the story also revolves a lot around arguing who the leader should be.

The entire story has twists and turns but it also has sections where my skin crawled. It was hands down one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read. The characters are very interesting and they all have great personalities. The big plot twist takes the entire story to show itself which I think was great! The story was very cryptic here and there but it was amazing! I am beyond excited for the next two books. Happy reading.

Break Your Heart

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
The release date for this book is July 28, 2015. Visit for other reviews on this book.

The book cover is definitely adorable. I like the fact that the heart is cut in half and I felt like it was a test or something that made the shape.  Super cute cover. Okay, so this book was a quick read. I thought it was the perfect book to read once you finish a series. I loved it. It was very different from what I normally read and I think that is important when looking for a new book. I was very excited when I received this book from netgalley. This book had diverse main characters which is awesome! We definitely need more diverse books. The main characters are very intelligent and interesting. They have a connection and it is not just physical. The characters are very interesting to read about. They have their own lives separate from each other and that is the best! The story is definitely takes you on an anxiety roller coaster. One moment you want them to be together another moment you're anxious that they'll get caught. It is a great read! You will love the college vibes to the story. The entire story was not perfect. It wasn't a "typical" type of book where they fall in love blah blah. No, there were humps to get over and plot twists. There were other people there was a maybe they'll date maybe not. Overall, I liked it! Very different type of story. Happy reading.

Saint Anything

I purchased this book when it first released this month/May. I was very excited because the story sounded great and I've never read a book by Sarah Dessen. Let's just say I'm not disappointed! Even better, I was able to purchase this book and it was signed! Thank you Target! If you'd like to see more reviews on this book, please visit

Peyton, Sydney's charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion's share of their parents' attention and—lately—concern. When Peyton's increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

The uber-popular Sarah Dessen explores her signature themes of family, self-discovery, and change in her twelfth novel, sure to delight her legions of fans

I've never read a book by Sarah Dessen and I was not disappointed. I was first attracted to this book by its cover. I totally didn't judge it by the cover though, I read the inside of the dusk jacket that I posted above. My boyfriend tried to ask me what this book was about.....where do I start and how do I explain? So I just told him it was way too difficult and I hope you all understand that I'm trying to process my feelings in this review.

The whole book sort of revolves around Peyton and what happened to him but this book is about Sydney. It's about how her life basically revolves around this incident that occurred and how she just needs a change. She meets Layla, the super awesome confident new friend, and it all starts with YumYums. Obviously, all the good flavors are taken but Sydney settles for root beer flavor. This is where I felt that the story was about to get better, I was right. Layla brings her a giant bag of them. That is how their friendship starts, awesome right? Anyways, Layla's family is by far the best thing about this book. I hope you grow to love them! The characters are all around completely adorable. I love them, I loved the way their relationships/friendships grew and I loved that they had to overcome situations that occurred. Romance, drinking, drama, and betrayal. I don't want to give away too much. So, happy reading!!

Between Everything and Us (Sutton College Novel #1)

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
The release date for this book was January 20, 2015. Visit for other reviews on this book.

I honestly can not find the right way to review this book. This has to be one of the harder reviews I've written after reading a book. I felt that this book was very good. I loved it. I just wanted more! I still need to know more and more about what happened. The characters both have their own problems going on and it isn't like their world revolves around each other. The book was refreshing and I loved the chemistry between Beau and Matisse. It was so cute reading about their relationship develop and their bond grow. The book had tons of drama, drinking, romance, and terrible twists. I loved the book and the crazy twists that occur are horrid and beautiful. The author was like lets give you a terrible tragedy here and then another twist here. But, overall it was amazing. I loved this book. I haven't read many New adult books but I really liked this one. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

So I haven't had an opportunity to post my reviews but I'll do it by today or tomorrow. There is two to come :)

The Wrath and The Dawn

I purchased this book at my local Barnes and Noble. You can purchase this book through multiple websites. If you would like to see more reviews based on this book, please visit

Every dawn brings horror to a different family in a land ruled by a killer. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, takes a new bride each night only to have her executed at sunrise. So it is a suspicious surprise when sixteen-year-old Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid. But she does so with a clever plan to stay alive and exact revenge on the Caliph for the murder of her best friend and countless other girls. Shazi’s wit and will, indeed, get her through to the dawn that no others have seen, but with a catch . . . she’s falling in love with the very boy who killed her dearest friend.

She discovers that the murderous boy-king is not all that he seems and neither are the deaths of so many girls. Shazi is determined to uncover the reason for the murders and to break the cycle once and for all.

The dusk jacket for this book is very beautiful. The actual book itself is a burgundy shade and it looks very nice. I love it just as much as I loved the book! Ok, so this book was inspired by A Thousand and One Nights. I haven't read the book so I feel that I really need to after finishing this one. I absolutely loved the entire story! I found this book to be mindblowing! As a reader, I was engaged through all of it. There was not one moment that I wanted to just stop and take a break what so ever. Where is the next book and can you just send it to me immediately!?

This book was filled with a giant secret and I felt like I was going to implode trying to figure out what it was. So the story starts and thats when it all begins (obviously right?), with a cryptic message:

"One hundred lives for one you took. One life to one dawn.
Should you fail but a single morn, I shall take from you your dreams. I
shall take from you your city.
And I shall take from you these lives, a thousandfold."

Creepy, right? I was like ok, so what exactly does this mean? So anyways, Shahrzad volunteers to marry Khalid even though she knows that every bride has been killed at sunrise. Shazi is a very intelligent and cunning girl. Her reasons behind her choice to volunteer are definitely noble but then her feelings for the boy-king start to change. Khalid killed her best friend and how is it ok for her to start falling in love with this boy when he took someone so important to her? Khalid goes to visit Shazi and she holds his attention by telling him a story. While she was telling the stories, I found myself eager to hear the story also. The way she makes it through the night is by ending the story in a way that there is still more to be told. So night after night passes and Shazi makes it to sunrise. I slowly started to really like Khalid and feel as though there had to be a reason behind these deaths. He was mysterious and as much as he sounds terrible, I didn't think he was. I felt myself swooning for the idea of them being together. She fights with herself because of the feelings she is developing, but she never lets these feelings excuse what he has done. This book is lovely, I definitely recommend it to young adult lovers. It is filled with romance and emotion. Half the time I was like NOOO!!! What just happened, my emotions can't take this. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars but I'm still not completely over the fact that I finished reading and discovered this was not a stand alone book. This is a duology and the next book does not come out until next year. Where is the next one and why has it not been mailed to me already! I hope you all enjoy the book. Happy reading!

The Demon Door

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
The release date for this book is June 16, 2015. Visit for other reviews on this book.

The book cover is very appealing. The cover is something that drew me into the book right away. The book itself was a difficult read just because of the time differences. What I mean is that time passes differently in both worlds and it confused me at first. Also, I felt that the characters could have used much more explanation, mainly Blue and Princess Hellne. I felt that more explanation of their relationship would have been great for the story. But, overall I enjoyed the book. I felt that it was a quick read because I wanted to know more and more about what was going on. The author definitely made me love the characters in a way that I was genuinely concerned about them throughout the book. I wouldn't say this book is necessarily new adult but it is borderline young adult and new adult due to the sex scenes. Be prepared!! Anyways, I very much liked the story as a whole but I would have liked to know a lot more about the first two characters I mentioned. If I explain much more i'll give away a lot of spoilers and I would like to avoid that in this review. Honestly, I would definitely push through this book! There were some parts where I was very lazily reading but that was the only reason I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 stars.  I'm very glad I finished this book because the ending was very good! So get excited for that!! Where is the next book?!?!?! I need it now!!! Happy reading.

The Isle of the Lost

I purchased this book when it first released this month/May. I was extremely excited when it came out. I tried to get my hands on an advanced copy but unfortunately my blog had not picked up too much when I requested it! Anyways, I purchased the book at target and got a cool picture frame magnet with it. You can check out other reviews on Also, please check out my twitter! @BookswithHayley.

So, let us get right into this! I was so excited for this book release and I went to Target right after work to pick it up. The cover is stunning, I loved the entire look to it. If you purchase a hardcover, the book is all black with metallic purple writing on the side. Overall I really liked the entire jacket design. This book is a very quick read in the best possible way. I was struggling to get through my books lately and I decided to put a hold on the book I was reading. So I picked up this book and I could not put it back down. It was filled with adventure and schemes! It was dark and twisty in the villainous way that it has to be! The characters are so easy to love and you're constantly just wanting to know more about these characters.

The story revolves around Mal, Jay, Evie, Carlos, and Ben. Mal is the daughter of Maleficent, Jay is the son of Jafar, Evie is the daughter of the Evil Queen, Carlos is the son of Cruella De Vil, and Ben is the son of Belle and the Beast. Mal, Jay, Evie, and Carlos live on the Isle of the Lost under the dome. Ben lives in Auradon, where all the non-evil people live. For example, Belle, the Beast, the dwarfs, the dalmatians, etc. Mal isn't evil enough to be called by her full name, Jay is a cunning thief, Evie is kind, and Carlos is intelligent. Mal and Jay are as thick as thieves and their friendship/non-friendship is just awesome. They get along so well and they are by far my favorite characters. Carlos and Evie are very friendly with each other and Evie even gives Carlos a pillow, that she was going to "throw out anyway". Being kind is totally unheard of and not appropriate for the Isle. Then there is Ben, very unknowing of all the evil children on the Isle. He will soon rule the kingdoms and he is very curious of the Isle. He wants to be a good ruler and unfortunately, getting on top of the table and screaming at the council isn't a great start.

Evie and Mal aren't on the best terms because Mal's mother banished Evie and her mother. So when Evie comes back 10 years later, did she really think that Mal wasn't going to hold a grudge? Mal wants to get back at Evie and plans to do something excessively evil. As the book progresses, the characters seem to start having things in common. For example, their parents. Evil and wicked. Parents that live in the past, parents that are selfish, and parents that are always disappointed. These kids all start to realize that they have things in common.

As we get farther into the book, I realized that the quests the children are faced with make you feel sorry for them. Their parents are so selfish and love their birds, money, fur, and beauty over their children. It made me very upset and then Mal is faced with trying to figure out whether or not to go through with her scheme. The children all disappoint their parents and then I realized it is because they weren't as evil and vengeful as their parents.

*******!!spoiler over!!*******

The book was amazing and I highly recommend it. I can't wait to find out what happens next! Killer cliff hanger. Be ready for the anxiety of this wait.

A Little Something Different

I purchased this book at my local Target. It is available on You can check out other reviews for this book on ISBN 13: 9781250061775

I love the cover of this book and as you read through it you start to notice that everything on the cover has relevance to parts in the book. So let's start! This story is just captivating. You are constantly so happy and like me, you'll continue to be swooning after you finish reading it! You are filled with feels for the couple that this story revolves around, Gabe and Lea the adorable duo. They have amazing and accidental run ins. They constantly end up at the same places at the same times. They are adorable!!! Anyway, so Gabe and Lea are both in the same creative writing class and they are the teachers pick for her totally private/secret couple of the semester. So Inga, the teacher, tells her wife, Pam, about this couple all the time and Pam totally likes them is invested in this couple now too. Even the baristas at Starbucks are totally invested in this couple! So this story is told from 14 different points of view and I was very sceptical when I first purchased the book because I thought it might get too confusing but the author did very well writing this book! I found all the characters interest in the couple refreshing. Gabe has a big secret and throughout the entire book you get so upset here and there because things are off or they are acting weird. So, I won't ruin the secret for you future readers or current readers, but it is so juicy! Everything starts to come together once you learn the secret. It isn't your regular book where the couple is loving each other the entire book. This book is like the beginning of that, the lovely tidbits of their maybe relationship. So it is basically their dating/not really dating stage. Overall, the book was beautifully written. I completely loved the couple. Did I mention they are adorable? Happy Reading!

The Darkest Part of the Forest

I received this from the author at the American Library Association conference of 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada in exchange for an honest review. I'm a bit late on getting around to reviewing it but it is available to purchase from Please check out other reviews on Goodreads.

The cover of this book is something that definitely drew me in when I was walking around the conference room. It was hard to read from afar and looked interesting. So when I got up close I immediately knew I wanted this book! Besides the fact that I really enjoy the author as a writer and a person, I love the cover and the finished cover has a reflective type of butterfly thing. I like it and the book itself is amazing! So the book is about a brother and sister named Ben and Hazel. These two are extremely close and as the book progresses they begin to drift apart. The one thing that stands out about them is the parental neglect and it really made me understand why it was so difficult for Hazel as they started to drift apart. In the town that they live in, humans and faeries co-exist. be honest I feel like they tolerate each other and there are boundaries to what they can and can't do. Or better yet, what they think they can and can't do. The faeries are scary and mischievous, they are especially devious. There are so many feels to this book because of the  relationships. You'll try to pair them but you won't know until it smacks you in the face! Holly Black wrote this book so well and I adore it! My favorite character in this book is the boy in the casket made of glass. His name is Severin and he is a prince. He is unique and very interesting. Hazel and Ben both love him and he loves them...but he loves one of them more. Who has the heart of this prince? This book is dark, twisty and mysterious. If you like books that keep you guessing, then you'll definitely enjoy this book. Happy reading!

It is called A Little Something Different and it's by Sandy Hall. I'm only on page 75 and I absolutely adore it so far. It's very cute and comical with their love development. You should definitely pick up a copy of this book! Happy reading and have a safe weekend!

So I went a little crazy and requested tons of books from NetGalley. I was approved for about 20 or so and I'm really excited about it! I have to sit through and read at least half of those though. I've been preoccupied with school but during the summer I'll be all about books and beaches. So be on the lookout for my reviews!:)

This book is already available on If you'd like to see other reviews based on this book visit Goodreads.comAlso, don't forget to check the reviews through Amazon too!

I purchased this book at USC while I was there for the book festival. Overall I really was interested with it as soon as I saw it. It says a lot about the book without actually saying something. The book itself is so unpredictable and it was a very quick read. I hadn't read anything by the author before this book and I was impressed with the book. I was never able to predict what was going to occur next in the book. Twice a day at 3:59, two parallel universes are connected by a portal. Jo lives in a world where everything is just perfect and she is wealthy. Josie lives in a world where her parents are divorced, her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend, and her mom would prefer working on her experiments than spending time with her daughter. Josie and Jo are doppelgangers in parallel universes. Romance isn't necessarily a big part of the book but it has a bit of it, which you will totally be rooting for the specific couple! This book is a sci-fi/thriller with a bit of a dark twisty type of turn throughout the book and I loved it! You'll overall think that it is all about romance and love but as you read farther along it will pull you in and you won't want to set the book down. The ending made me cry and it was because I had so many feels for this book! I loved it and I loved that the author left it in a way that she could almost continue the story if she wanted to but without leaving us on a cliff hanger. So definitely a sequel, maybe, hopefully!

The Beginning of Everything

I purchased this book at The Festival of books in L.A. It is available for purchase through Amazon as well as Barnes and noble.
The cover looks very great. I love the roller coaster idea. Once you read through the book it is a perfect cover for the way the story is. I honestly think that this book was very well written. Ezra Faulkner gets into a car accident and bam, his whole life flips upside down. Ezra's car accident doesn't necessarily ruin his life, but so much of it is just sort of gone. He can't play tennis, his friends are all on the tennis team, he uses a cane to walk around, and his girlfriend cheated on him. Then he goes to school after his accident and Toby, his childhood friend, sits next to him during the pep rally. Did I mention there's a severed head situation at Disneyland while these two are on a ride? Yeah, Toby catches the severed head. So that's where it all honestly begins, with the friendship these two have is rekindled. So Toby is on the debate team and basically the president of nerds. That is totally not meant in a bad way! He's very interesting and funny. But, since he is the president of the debate team he's a "nerd". Anyways, so then there is Cassidy Thorpe....beautiful and smart. So Cassidy Thorpe is the funny, beautiful, smart and of course, love interest of Ezra Faulkner. Did I mention she is the new girl? So in this book, Ezra is relatable and very likable. He turns his life around in a way that is positive for him. Toby is the funny nerdy guy that anyone could get along with as long as they had a great sense of humor. Then there is Cassidy, the girl that you could easily have as a friend. She's outgoing and funny so that's a great combination. So Cassidy and Ezra are literally the cutest couple and you'll have the feels for sure! Anyways, so the ending to this book is very sad and I hate the idea of it but it happens. Coyotes are my life long enemy now. Anyways, this book ended in a way that you wouldn't have expected...with a gigantic plot twist in the worst way. But honestly, it makes the story so much better and beautiful. Happy reading!

  • This book was honestly very different from what I thought it would be.  But, to start off I really liked the cover. Very simple but awesome. I was honestly giddy and nervous while reading through this book. Graham Tucker. That's the only name you need to know. That is because he is the man that will literally make your stomach have butterflies from how nervous you'll be while reading through this amazing book! He makes you mad and sad but most of all you'll end up totally crushing on Graham. But, there's Cassie who broke his heart and left without a reason or a word. This story makes you NEED to know why she left and why would she even do that since these two have been basically childhood sweethearts. They were each others first everything and the memories that they share with you constantly make you so giddy. While others make you cry and you'll end up in tears not knowing what to do with yourself. The characters captivate your heart and it is honestly beautiful. They are so well written, just like the entire book is written. I read this book in four hours because I couldn't stop reading. I wanted to know why Cassie left, why did Graham continue to take care of Cassie's mom when needed, why was she totally ignoring the super hunk after he saved her mom from the burning house!!!! These are just probably 7-10 chapters of the book if that. I definitely recommend this book to young adult lovers over 16 who love romance. Some scenes are a bit higher than PG-13 but they are great! Happy reading :) Don't forget to go add me as a friend on Goodreads!

Everything, Everything

Everything, Everything
I received this book from Nicola Yoon at Y'all West and from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is by far one of the best Arcs I've received this year and I have tons from the last few book events I've been to this year!
This book is available for Pre-order on If you would like to see more reviews for this book, please go to The book will be available in September, but if you can get it prior you should.
The book cover is honestly marvelous. It is so beautiful and the drawings on it make it that much better.
Overall, this book is literally heart clenching and beautiful. So let's just jump in, shall we? Madeline has SCID which is basically a super rare disease and she is allergic to like everything. She lives at home in something that is basically like a giant bubble. Her father and brother passed away when she was very young. Her mother is a doctor and her nurse's name is Carla. A new neighbor moves in next door and of course....there's a boy. His name is Oliver but they call him Olly. He's utterly perfect in the best ways for Madeline. Unfortunately, she can't leave her house and no one except her tutors are allowed to come in to visit. So when Carla lets her have him over for a visit, her world flips upside down. This boy, these hormones, these amazingly interesting conversations, and of course the romance between them is lovely.
I was hooked immediately and I'm so sad the book is over. But, the ending was lovely and it made me love the book that much more! This book was nothing like I thought it would be at all. Every single time I guessed what would happen I was wrong. I absolutely loved the book and if you liked TFiOS I honestly think you'll love this book.

PART 2: Kissing Ted Callahan (and other guys)

Kissing Ted Callahan (and other guys)
I've officially finished this amazing book! So to start, the book cover is pretty cute! It is very original and I love the total journal/doodling theme on the cover. When you read the book you'll totally understand. Anyways, I give this book a 5/5 stars for the cover. This book was just released this month (April) so get your hands on it as soon as possible so you can laugh and blush while reading this book. Honestly, the characters were completely adorable. Riley and Reid are really close friends because they caught their band mates, Nathan and Lucy, totally making out and what not. So they are all still in a band but Riley is totally mad at Lucy and chooses to be friends with Reid vs. being stuck with a "best friend" who isn't even telling you that they are messing around with a band mate. So basically Reid is totally smitten about this girl and Riley is really liking the awesome and amazing Ted Callahan. I'm totally crushing on his dorky, popular, and amazing personality. So the (and other guys) part of the title of the book is only two other guys. There's Garrick, Milo, and of course Ted. You'll absolutely love them all! So anyways, Riley and Reid decide to write their journey to love, sex, and whatever else in a journal. But.....during the book it goes missing ******SPOILER******and they are forced to tell everyone in the book what they wrote about them so that just in case  someone uses it to black mail them. So basically at this point Riley and Ted totally...Did It. Thankfully it wasn't written in the book that got lost! But while all the others that Riley wrote about are taking it soooo well. The super important one does not. Overall, I'm completely crushing on Ted because he's dorky and adorable. I love Riley because she's super awesome and basically a rock star. I constantly laughed because Amy Spalding writes her characters in the best way possible. You love all the characters and their issues. There is Reid who constantly needs to be reassured because he's so insecure, there's Ted who obviously needs no introduction, there's Riley the drummer, there's Nathan the one who thinks is in charge and is most likely Doing It with Lucy, and then there's Lucy who lost her best friend. So overall I would recommend to someone who loves reading YA, romance, and it based around high school ages. I love the book and I read it in less than two days because unfortunately I can't just sit on my sofa or bed because I have a job. Anyways, happy reading!

Kissing Ted Callahan (and other guys)

The 100 series

The 100 (Book 1 of 3) ISBN13: 9780316234474
So to start, I am a big fan of this book cover. It's lovely and I give it a 5 out of 5 because it is perfectly alligned with the book. Overall, I like the cover just as much as the newer T.V show cover.
I'm completely obsessed with this series at the moment. I like the show very much but the books are just that much better. The little love triangle between Bellamy, Wells, and Clarke is just perfect. I'm rooting for Bellamy and Clarke. So fingers crossed!! 100 criminals get sent to Earth with a chance of dying from radiation. Overall, there are multiple flashbacks/memories that the characters have to link back on important moments of their lives. Wells is in love with Clarke and they dated at one point but unfortunately he makes a terrible decision and breaks a very important secret Clarke tells him. Clarke had to keep a giant secret for her parents while innocent people's lives were in danger. Bellamy has a sister which is completely unheard of because in the space station they are only allowed to have one child but his mother broke the rules and got pregnant with Octavia. He does something unspeakable in order to go down to Earth in order to save his sister. There's Glass and Luke which are extremely adorable but so much drama between them. I'm rooting for their relationship. Let's see how it goes. I love it!

The 100: Day 21 (Book 2 of 3) ISBN13: 9780316234459
I really like the cover of the book. People falling out of the sky makes everyone freak out a bit but don't worry fellow readers!! These people did not fall out of the sky, I repeat, they did NOT fall out of the sky! They were just sort of sent to the ground in a type of spaceship/pod thing. No worries!
Kass Morgan is truly an amazing author. Her characters capture your heart and you are so anxious to know what is going to happen next through out the entire book! I couldn't put the book down at all because I had to know what was going to happen to these amazing characters. Clarke must reveal a very close kept secret that could make or break her relationship. This secret is HUGE! It has haunted her every single day since it occured. Wells has a flashback of his father and then realizes that the woman his father once loved prior to his mother had a child and Glass loses someone very important to her. This book was very easy to read. It was very diffiuclt to stop reading so just keep that in mind!

The 100: Homecoming(Book 3 of 3) ISBN13: 9780316381963
I'm very sad it's over! It ended in a mixture of sadness and perfection. I'm a big fan of the books as well as the t.v series! I think the one thing that I was most excited about was all the romance between Clarke and Bellamy. The current season of the 100 on t.v ended in a way that just kind of have you a slight glimpse of a possibility of this couple. Overall, I am so much more excited for the book because their love is so real and it's amazing!!! Unfortunately, throughout this book it isn't filled with romance. There are deaths, people miraculously appear, and there are realizations that finally answer some questions from the beginning of the book. Bellamy must make a difficult decision, Wells has issues with his authority, many must put their grief aside, Glass must face the most difficult journey she's ever had to do, and Octavia must care for children like herself in the midst of  danger. I couldn't put this book down at all! I NEEDED to know what would happen next. I loved the way it ended but I would have loved to have more. Overall, I am a big fan of the book series. The entire series was very easy to read. The characters were perfection, the entire plot of the books was amazing, and the ending was perfect. It was sad at times due to deaths but the deaths that occured were necessary.  Happy reading!:)

Shadow, Shadow

  • ISBN-13: 978-1508469957

I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book! That is what first drew me in. It reminded me of an Alice in Wonderland theme which as everyone knows, is a pretty dang awesome theme! Not untill after I finished reading the book did I realize she was holding the gift in her hand. Overall I give this cover a 4 out of 5 stars.
Four kids that have birthdays on the exact same day all get invited to a new shop that just opened up. The shop brings them in by saying they have a birthday present for them. The shop keeper, Ava-Kaya, is very mysterious and cool. Harley, Teaghan, Brock, and Gianna were the 4 high school students invited to the shop but only three out of the four show up. One of the kids tells her that Gianna is a very busy girl and she doubted she'd ever claim her prize. It is very odd though because Ava-Kaya says,"She'll get it whether she wants it or not.".Ava-Kaya tells them that they have been given the gift of "trading". They each receive a box that is able to get rid of people. She calls it trading and when you put a piece of the person's hair in the box and then recite the little spell. The next day, they are gone forever. They just dissapear. The kids are all very skeptical. Ava-kaya tells them a story about what happened on this land . It's "bad land" and a cult was massacred. They say that hell spit them back up and then they became the shadows. The town is called Shadow Pines. Creepy! Anyways, the following school week, Gianna finds the box in her locker. It just appeared there. That's when things got scarier. This book is dark and mysterious but very good! So there are two points of views, Harley and Teaghan. Harley is a trouble maker. But her mother was murdered when she was younger. They don't know by who. Her father remarried a terrible mean woman named Amy and they had a baby. Amy pretty much makes Harley's life hell. But as you get farther into the story, you start wondering if it's really her doing it all. Harley also has an abusive boyfriend named Nash. *SPOILER* Teaghan gets picked on and laughed at by basically almost everyone. So she has a tough life. She is the first one to use her box. Ava-Kaya also said that once one of them used it they all had to use their boxes. Creeeeeppppyyy!!! So Teaghan takes advantage of this gift and whenever someone upsets her she uses it. So people start dissapearing. At the end of the book after they've all used their boxes, they try to return them to Ava-kaya. Unfortunately. she tells them that they must hold on to the boxes until it is time to pass it on. *SPOILER OVER* The book ends when a new character is introduced and starts rambling about stuff. Overall, the book was very good! I could not put the book down because I was so interested in what was going to happen next. I'm very excited for the next book! I really want to know where these boxes end up. Plus I'm very interested in the Brock and Harley realtiionship that started to develop a bit. I can't wait for the next one!!

From A Distant Star

I received this as an e-book from in exchange for an honest review.
The release date for this book is May 19, 2015. It is currently available for Pre-order through If you'd like to see other reviews based on this book visit

Let me just start off talking about the beautiful cover of this book. Once you read it you will understand why it is utterly perfect and lovely. I found the entire layout of it to be great! I give the book cover a 5 out of 5 stars. The colors are just lovely and perfect. A very unique cover. What are your thoughts about it?
A weird witch lady, an extra terrestrial, a boy with stage 4 cancer on his deathbed, a family who has lost all hope, and a girl who refuses to give up on the boy she loves. This story pulls you in right away. You are constantly trying to figure out what exactly is going on. But, not in a bad type of way! It's more like a mystery you are trying to solve and you're fascinated by it all. This book is mystery, sci-fi, and romance wrapped all into one. I personally would rate this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars. I personally think that this is a book that I'd pick up again in a few years and read it all over again. I constantly NEEDED to know what would happen next! I finished reading this book in 2 days because I thought it was so good. So basically, the boy with the stage 4 cancer's name is Lucas. Lucas is currently in hospice care and is in a coma. Emma, his girlfriend, is the only supporter of Lucas. Lucas' entire family is pretty much waiting for him to die because everyone and all the medical personal say there's no getting better. Emma decides to go see the witch lady of their town and she gives her a potion. However, she mentions to Emma that something feels off. Emma does the little ritual she has to for Lucas and then later on in the night, there is a crash and there is an extra terrestrial that appears. This book isn't like oh my goodness there is an alien walking around!! No, it is more like the essence of the alien. Anyways, the alien, Scout takes over Lucas' body and uses him as a host. Scout knows he could possibly heal Lucas and in return he will use Lucas' body as a host. When Lucas' starts acting weird people start getting a bit suspicious. Lucas' younger brother, Eric, notices this and so has Emma. When Scout confides his secret in them, they would have never guessed that was what was actually going on. Now, Lucas and Emma have to help Scout return to his home in order to get Lucas back. There is a road trip involved and a lot of action! But I won't spoil it for you! Overall, my favorite part has to be the ending of this book because it is just PERFECT! Scout gives Emma and Lucas the best gift of all! Now it is up to you to figure out what that the gift they received. Happy reading!
